Rock Star Jon Bon Jovi Lists Soho Penthouse for $42M

There has been widespread speculation for almost a year now about Jon Bon Jovi’s Soho penthouse:  Is he selling it or not? Well, now it’s official. His duplex penthouse at 158 Mercer Street hit the market yesterday for an astounding $42 million. So let’s assume that he finds someone flush enough to take the deal. That would bring him a surplus of $18 million! He originally purchased the apartment for $24 million back in 2007. And granted, he did invest several million dollars into renovations right after he bought it.

The fully furnished apartment has 11 rooms, 5 bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, and a huge 1,000-square-foot living room with a cozy fireplace. While the furniture and décor falls mostly within a range of brown tones and looks luxurious and elegant, the apartment doesn’t radiate the aura of a super creative and innovative rock star. The duplex has 7,452 square feet and boasts amenities like hardwood floors, 11-foot ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, a key-locked elevator, and multiple landscaped terraces totaling 3,100 square feet that offer panoramic views of the city’s skyline.

The listing is being brokered by Deborah Grubman of The Corcoran Group and has only been on the market for a day. This historical building with a full-time doorman is located at the intersection of Prince Street and Housten Street. It was built in 1895 and converted to condominiums in 1996. Monthly common charges, including real estate taxes, are $11,608.

Bon Jovi’s other real estate properties include his family house in Red Bank, New Jersey, and a large mansion in East Hampton, New York. It’s hard to imagine Bon Jovi not having his pied-à-terre in Manhattan, so we’re under the assumption that he just might be looking at a new place—maybe a pad inside One57 or 432 Park Avenue?
