Billionaire Couple Snags $26M Upper East Side Townhouse
One of the world’s richest women, Zhang Xin, and her equally rich husband, Pan Shiyi, have already found the perfect residence in New York City for $26 million, after they placed their condo on the market just a few weeks ago, according to curbed.
The billionaire couple who founded China’s largest real estate development firm, SoHo China, have signed on the dotted line for a five-bedroom, seven-and-a-half bathroom, 45 East 74th Street townhouse.
Their new home boasts an awesome indoor pool with a waterfall flanked by marble, handcrafted Italian limestone details, private garden, an elevator, media room, several fireplaces, and so many other fabulous features that it makes us wonder why it took so long to sell?
The 19th-century townhouse, which was on the market for a year, was originally listed by Town Residential for $33 million; then it was reduced to $30 million before ultimately being slashed to $26 million. This is still not a bad price at all considering that its previous owner, Italian film maker and real estate developer Valerio Morabito, bought the place for a rather paltry $10 million in 2009. Still, he did put $10 million into renovating the property to its current luxurious state.
The couple have definitely upgraded with this sprawling purchase, as this location astoundingly makes their recently listed 15 Central Park West three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom condo in an exclusive luxury building with breathtaking park views look more like an expensive closet.
At least now we know why they moved.
