America’s Most Expensive Zip Code is on Manhattan’s Upper East Side

The most expensive zip code in the United States is 10065, according to Forbes. The area runs from 60th Street to 69th, from Fifth Avenue all the way to the East River.

The median asking price for the area is $6.5 million, and (surprisingly) it is the first time a Manhattan zip has topped this particular list. The median apartment price for Manhattan’s Upper East Side as a whole is $1.1 million, while the median price for rentals is $3,150, according to streeteasy. The median sales price for co-ops and condominiums in Manhattan as a whole in the third quarter of this year was $890,000, down 2.3 percent, compared to the previous year.

Buildings like The Laurel, Barbizon 63, Sherry Netherland and The Touraine are all located in the area. The Sherry Netherland located at 781 5th Avenue offers 1 bedroom apartments starting at $2.395 million and a 7 bedroom apartment for as much as $95 million. The Touraine offers a 5-bedroom for $19.995 million and the Barbizon 63 at 140 East 63rd St a 4-bedroom pad for $11.250 million.
