Buyer of Rothschild Mansion Unveiled

The buyer of the Upper East Side’s Rothschild Mansion at has been revealed today. Steel magnate, Leroy Schecter, 85, has purchased the townhouse for $25 million, according to The Post. Mr. Schecter is chairman of steelmaker Marino/Ware Industries and is also the owner of the recently listed $95 million 15 Central Park West apartment.

The Rothschild Mansion was not only owned by The Century Foundation, since 1958, but housed its office as well. Over 50 years of office use has left the mansion into a less than desirable place to live and consider home. Mr. Schecter aims to renovate the mansion and convert it back into a single-family residence – which should not be a problem provided Mr. Schecter sells his current $95 million 15 Central Park West apartment.
