It hasn’t been an easy ride for actress Chloë Sevigny in selling her East Village apartment. Initially, she loved the apartment, but eventually she decided to sell in order to avoid co-op rules and get an apartment with more light. Chloë first listed the apartment roughly 13 months ago. It’s been on and off the market ever since with slightly different prices. But nothing could move anyone to sign a contract, until now. The New York Post reports that the couple, Halle Tecco and Jeffrey Hammersbacher, grabbed the David Cafiero-designed co-op for $1.76 million and put a happy end to Chloë’s search for a buyer.

The unit is only 1,250 square feet and has 4.5 rooms, one bedroom, and one and a half bathrooms, but it has a special cozy charm with its low-beamed ceilings and two gardens that made Chloë feel like she was living in a womb. It also features a wood-burning fireplace, a walk-in closet, a small home office, and built-in bookshelves in the living room. The apartment walls used to be full of exposed bricks, apparently Chloë wasn’t very fond of them, so she had the bricks covered with plaster and then decorated the walls with art.

The building, located at 119 East 10th Street, was built in 1870 and has 29 apartments on three floors. In November of last year, Kathryn Stockett, author of “The Help,” bought a one-bedroom apartment for $1.25 million inside the same building from The Smashing Pumpkin’s James Iha.
