Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former president Bill Clinton, and husband Marc Mezvinsky have signed on the dotted line to buy a four-bedroom luxury condo inside The Whitman at 21 East 26th Street in Gramercy Park. Bill and Hillary Rodman Clinton are just coming off an especially busy year with Bill backing the Obama campaign and helping keep him in office, and Hillary’s involvement in the Benghazi affair and eventual hospitalization. Just when things seem to have calmed down and become almost suspiciously quiet, daughter Chelsea Clinton acquires this beautiful apartment facing Madison Square Park.

Chelsea will be needing quite a bit of help moving in since she’s already busy as a special correspondent for NBC News; plus, she’s working with the Clinton Foundation and the Global Initiative, and at the same time pursuing a doctoral degree at the University of Oxford. But, hey, what Ph.D. candidate has ever been able to afford a $10.5 million luxury condo? Kudos on that!

The full-floor apartment, brokered by Melanie Lazenby of Douglas Elliman, was on the market for only four weeks. It is on the fourth floor and boasts a beautiful large chef’s kitchen, floor-to-ceiling windows facing Madison Square Park, a home office, as well as a media room. The large master bathroom is made of beautiful Italian marble. The apartment details are astonishing: 13 rooms, four bedrooms, six and a half bathrooms—all in 4,697 square feet. Taxes are almost $8,000 a month and common charges roughly $4,300. Again, not bad for a Ph.D. candidate.

The pre-war five-story Whitman building was built as an office building in 1924 and converted to condominiums in 2012. It is located right across from Madison Square Park, which features quite a large dog run, perfect for Chelsea’s dog “Soren.” The decision to choose this apartment was probably influenced by the fact that the building contains only five apartments and a keyed elevator, which assures privacy and security.
