Actor, director, and writer Matthew Modine and his wife Caridad have sold their apartment inside Loft 25 at 420 West 25th Street for $2.1 million. Modine, best known for his role as Private Joker in “Full Metal Jacket,” paid $1.73 million for the apartment five years ago—so he’s making a nice profit of $430K. Regardless of the win, it was still sold under ask, which was initially $2.29M last October; it then dropped to $2.175M in December, 2012.

The one-bedroom duplex has 1,668 square feet and, despite only one bedroom, 2.5 bathrooms. The lower level has a cozy recreation room, half-bathroom, laundry room, and access to a large 80-square-foot terrace. Other highlights are 17-foot ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, which flood the rooms with an abundance of light.

Halstead, the exclusive broker of the apartment, released a video of the unit and reported that it was its most successful video ever made and published, since it got the most hits. However, The New York Times reported that Modine wasn’t very pleased about all the exposure his apartment received. Some of the ad photos showed personal belongings, children’s artwork, and family photographs. Modine told the NYT that “I would have liked to remove these items, and wish I had before some photos began to appear on Twitter.”

Loft 25 is a pre–World War I, nine-story building that was built in 1912; it was recently converted into luxury condos in 2006.

The new apartment owner, Karim Tartoussieh, will have full access to the building’s amenities, which include a gym, a screening room, and a private storage room.
