Famed Oprah Show designer, Nate Berkus, has finally sold his Greenwich Village place for $4.95 million to Alexander Gilkes, co-founder of Paddle8, an online art auction site.

The celebrity designer, who frequently appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, was featured in Architectural Digest nary nine months ago showcasing before and afters of his sprawling 3,000-square-foot digs. He had purchased the apartment, which includes a bedroom with skylight, two small offices, walk-in-closets, and a perfectly detailed living room, in 2011 for $3.35 million. Berkus also listed the apartment in December of last year.

Gilkes and fashion-designer wife Misha Nonoo are known for going all out for events, which is something they might well have taken into consideration with the purchase of the 19-23 West 9th Street townhouse that boasts a 1,000-square-foot private deck. The couple had a splashy three-day Venetian style wedding last year that was featured in W Magazine and boasted such A-list guests in attendance as Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice of York, as well as Duchess Kate Middleton’s brother James.

Berkus, who has a new show scheduled for the fall after his previous one was canceled last year after two seasons, has a history of buying properties, putting his fabulous touch on them, and then selling. Last month he sold his West Village pad for $699,000 as well as a property in Chicago for $1.6 million.
