The condominium tower the Isis at 303 East 77th Street has sold 75 percent of its apartments. The Isis was built in 2009 hitting the market at the height of the global recession. The consequence was that developer, Alchemy Properties had to take the units off the market and re-launch them in 2010 at discounted prices.

Here we have it, Zeckendorf Development and Global Holdings have unveiled their new project, a 44-story luxury condominium with planned completion by 2014. Zeckendorf paid $152 million for the vacant land and the building is expected to cost another $500 million. The building was unveiled at a ground raising ceremony in Dag Hammarskjold Plaza.

President Barack Obama will be visiting New York City on Thursday to view the progress of the recovery from Hurricane Sandy, the Associated Press reported. The President wanted to visit New York City right after the hurricane hit, but Mayor Bloomberg requested that the President not visit so soon in order that he not interrupt the recovery process. At that time, the Mayor needed all of NYC’s resources to focus on cleaning up and repairing the damage. He did not want to have to divert any resources to the protection of the President.

Glen T. Senk, former CEO and director of Urban Outfitters Inc, has sold his Upper East Side co-op for $5 million, according to city records. Mr. Senk bought the UES pad at 1060 Fifth Avenue for $4.56 million in 2006. The initial asking price was $5.95 million back in January but it was reduced to $5.495 million and finally sold for $5 million, after it had been on the market for over 41 weeks. Betsy Green of Prudential Douglas Elliman exclusively brokered the apartment until May when her exclusive expired. Leighton Candler of The Corcoran Group successfully took over the listing.

Designer Marc Jacobs has been harmed by Hurricane Sandy and has moved temporarily to the Upper East Side, sources have told us. Marc purchased a 4,500-square-foot Neo-Georgian townhouse that is a part of the Superior Ink condo-torium, in 2009 for $10.495 million. Interior designer That Hayes helped Marc and his boyfriend Lorenzo Martone renovate the place.

We learned earlier this week that the lobby of Superior Ink became flooded when Hurricane Sandy caused record water levels to rise and invade city streets..

Actress Michelle Williams and “How I Met your Mother” actor Jason Segel have been hit by Sandy. The couple purchased a loft at 275 Conover Street just earlier this year for $3.6 million.

The building, located in upcoming neighborhood Red Hook, has been flooded tremendously and the Fairway supermarket on the first floor suffered much damage as well. Photos show FEMA workers throwing a whole inventory of Fairway products into a dumpster.

The damage from Hurricane Sandy is nothing that Manhattan has ever seen before. Many parts of lower Manhattan are severely flooded and without electricity or hot water. The MTA is at a complete halt and service might not be back for as long as a week. The absolute worst-case scenario has happened and even surpassed predictions.

Cars have been seen swimming in the flood. Police have evacuated lower Manhattan, and closed it down to in and out going traffic. The Battery Tunnel is flooded with water, and no timetable has been provided for when it will be open again.

The crane attached to the top of One57 has just collapsed due to increasing winds from hurricane Sandy. We reported an hour ago that construction sites might be in danger. Major winds from Sandy haven’t even hit NYC yet and more destruction can be expected. The broken crane is hanging down the side of building, while people watch the scenario in disbelief. We'll keep monitoring the area and report once updates come in.

Manhattan is well prepared for what might be the most devastating storm to come since Hurricane Bob, which hit New York in 1991. The category 2 hurricane caused two deaths and $75 million in damage. Sandy is approaching New York with speeds of 91 mph and a pressure of 943, which is even lower than the pressure of Hurricane Bob. Sandy is expected to make landfall sometime between 10pm and 12pm somewhere between Atlantic City and Northern Ocean County in New Jersey.
