Russell Simmons’ Penthouse Now Available for $9M

We could write a whole blog just about Russell Simmons’ penthouse. It’s located at 114 Liberty Street and has been on and off the market for what seems like an eternity in a desperate search for a buyer. The highlight of the apartment saga was when Sean Combs, known as Diddy, actually contracted to buy the pad over 10 years ago. After that, as the apartment went on and off the market, the price remained right around $11 million. A few times we’ve seen it fluctuate between $8 and $11 million, but like a pendulum it always came back to $11 million. So it’s either a miracle or a sign of wisdom to see the price now dropping back down to $9 million.

Whoever eventually buys the apartment will get an enormous 7,175-square-foot residence divided into 14 rooms, plus a generous amount of private outdoor space. It features high ceilings, a library, marble bathrooms, a terrace, and a powder room.

The only drawback is that the apartment is facing the city’s largest construction. The building is located right across from the World Trade Center complex construction. The good news for Russel: WTC’s Tower 4, which is directly across the street, should be completed by the end of this year.
