The Charles Finally Hits the Market!

Guess who’s back? The Charles, at 1355 First Avenue. The development has been on and off for over five years and now it finally looks like that a happy end is in sight. The building should be completed in 12–18 months and Curbed reports that the Charles will launch sales on May 1st.

The building will offer 29 full-floor apartments from $5 million up to $15 million for three- and four-bedroom apartments. The penthouse will cover two floors and probably cost $15 million, which doesn’t seem like a lot when we’re seeing apartments priced at nearly $100 million hit the market on a regular basis.

The Charles had some financial issues in the past and now construction plans have changed. The initial plans showed a 45-floor building with one- to four-bedroom units and amenities like a skylight pool, a fitness center, a screening room, a children’s playroom, and a few others. Not much has been revealed about the current plans regarding the list of amenities, but that should be announced on May 1st, when the Charles hits the market.

The building’s architect is Ismael Leyva, a super-successful New York–based architect, known for many buildings like Superior Ink, Riverhouse, and Yves Chelsea. David Collins from London is responsible for the interior design.
